DR Congo: The Virunga Gorilla Census

Love is in the Air…
We’ve spent the past few months worrying a lot about the gorillas.  For their part, the gorillas have been getting frisky and making babies.
Today was our first day among the mountain gorillas and we’ve discovered four newborn babies,  three in the Kabirizi family and one in the Munyaga family.  We’ve yet to find the other families, but we have reports of another newborn in the Lulengo family.  It’s quite unprecedented, and very encouraging.  Quite extraordinary for the first day of the census.
We wanted to share this with you immediately, but will keep you updated as the census continues over the coming week.
